Better late than never!

22 Jul

Guess what y’all!? I got my foodie pen pal box! I don’t know if the post office wanted to chow down on my goodies or if my apt complex just felt like holding it hostage…but I got it!

20130722-115748.jpgMy penpal was Jessi who writes some nutrition articles over at aroundtheplate.    Jessi is from the wonderful state of Michigan.  No bias there…

006Okay, maybe a lot of bias.  I was so happy to look in the box and see that the items she included were all from Michigan.  She even gave me a Michigan cookie cutter, so exciting!

Also in the box was: blueberry salsa, a rootbeer cookie mix(which I had to hide so some people didn’t decide to eat it raw), honey, Leelanau coffee, and some tea that was from an upstate spot.  I’m so excited to try all of my goodies!  Did I mention I was excited?

You guys should totally check out Aroundtheplate as well.  It’s got some pretty cool info on healthy living, recipes, and nutrition.

If you are interested in participating in the Foodie Penpal experience check out The Lean Green Bean for more information.

And just to end things on a rockin’ note:

Wanna shot?

Whooo, it’s been a spell.  I am currently in the midst of packing craziness!  I am moving to a new locale on Friday.  Yikes!  I’m super excited, I really like my new place and it’s location, however, it’s sad too.  I’ll be moving away from Leanne…but we’ll still be living in the same city and are like 10 minutes away, it’s all good.

This weekend!

Over the weekend, I went up to Michigan to see all these people…

It was my cousin Allie’s 21st birthday.  So we celebrated the only way that seemed right.  To go to a Michigan game!  Michigan played Minnesota, if you saw the game or the score you know what happened.

Yep, that says 58 – 0.

The Minnesota v Michigan game is called the Little Brown Jug.  Don’t know why?  Well Wikipedia does.

So the game, was great.  Lots of cheering, singing “The Victors”, twas a great time.

Here are some of my favorite photos from the game:

Just how far can you bend?

In Hoke we trust!

It was great!  We tailgated before and after the game then went back to Brown’s Lake for “dinner” and a bonfire.  There was an awesome sunset that night!

I’m so happy I was able to get up to Michigan to see my family and celebrate Allie’s birthday.  Like the post title says, she did have a shot.

The story goes that when my mom, dad, aunts, and uncles would visit my great-grandfather; the first thing he would ask was, “Hey Guy, wanna shot?”  It was only fair that Allie got to partake in this tradition as well this weekend!

Please note the bottle of champagne

Now, it’s back to work packing!  It feels never-ending.  Why hasn’t anyone figured out how to use worm holes yet?

It’s the start of college football season and I gotta say…I’m excited for this season.  My team is the University of Michigan.  If you even have an inkling or barely follow college football you’ll know that the past couple of years have been, ahem, painful.  I’m really excited about Brady Hoke!

I think he’s pretty excited too.  He’s been at UofM before in various coaching jobs.  I’m really praying that he’ll bring back the Michigan traditions to the team.

My family is pretty stoked too!
