Happy Birthday part 2!

31 Mar

Well…my car is still broken…  But at least I got pancakes this morning aaannnddd I got to drink out of my new favorite mug!

Right, totally cute!  I got one for my Foodie Penpal awhile back and loved it so much I almost didn’t want to give it away.  So when I was at Marshall’s I checked to see if they had anymore and just my luck they did!

Moving on to the real reason for this post…

Today is my Dad’s birthday!

He is seriously one of the smartest people I know.  I don’t even know how many phone conversations I start with, “So, I have a question…”  Wanna know the crazy thing?  He gets me an answer!  Whoa!

As you can see Dad loves fishing.  Even if Spider Lake still alludes him…

He loves a good bottle of wine

Just chillin’ at the beach

"Looks like a big ol' beach..."

And can rock a mean cowboy hat

Still don’t know why we look like the Gregosky Family Fun Hour…

Happy Birthday Dad!  You are one of the smartest, funniest, most caring, would do anything for his family dads 🙂  He’ll also never let me live down the story of  when I announced on one of his birthday’s, “You got big girl pants!”  Hey what can I say?  I was excited for him!

Happy Birthday!!

30 Mar

Let’s get this show on the road!

1)  This happened…

A great way to end a Friday, right!  The worst part is that now I can’t go pick up my wine of the month from UPS! Gah!

2)  It’s Foodie Penpal reveal day!!  My penpal was Parita from myinnershakti.  I gotta say it was a little creepy…she got me things that I needed and was thinking about buying.  Almost as if she asked Bond what I needed…

Nah, that can’t be right…

Anywho.  Parita hooked me up!

What you are seeing:  Dry Roasted Edamame – delicious!

Lindt Touch of Sea Salt Dark Chocolate – I just opened this yesterday and it’s a good thing I decided to exhibit some type of self-control…

Dried granny apple chips – I brought home this exact bag (well not exact) for Christmas and ate the whole thing in one sitting, true story.

Chocolate covered espresso beans – so dangerously addictive!

Peanut Butter – I had just run out of peanut butter the day before…see, creepy! 😉

Cliff Peanut Butter Bar – haven’t tried yet, but I’m always up for new bars, hahaha

Mojo Mt. Trail Mix Bar – This was delicious and I will definitely be buying more in the future

Bond obviously had to make his own judgements

I really love being involved in Foodie Penpals.  If you think it is something you are interested in as well, take a gander…

Door #2

Lindsey at TheLeanGreenBean graciously sets it up every month.  She is truly da bomb!  If you think you want to try it out, here’s what you need to know!

-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
-Foodie Penplas is open to US & Canadian residents.  Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa. So, I’m going to keep two separate lists and match US w/ US and Canada w/ Canada!

If you’re interested in participating for April, please CLICK HERE to fill out the participation form and read the terms and conditions. You will also find contact information on that page for the UK branch of Foodie Penpals if you’re a blogger across the pond!

You must submit your information by April 4th as pairings will be emailed on April 5th!

Yep, so that’s it in a nutshell…

3) I got new shoes!  Did I say that already?  Oh well, if I did you’re hearing about it again.

My new kicks, which aren’t really new.  I’ve been getting Brooks Adrenaline for years now.  I’m breaking them in for the Flying Pig and I really like  them!  I think they are helping with the shin splints I was getting earlier in my training.

4)  I gotta give a shout out to my friend Arla!  She gave me some really great coupons to Skinny Dip and Chick Fil A.  I’m really looking forward to using them.  It’s nice to have friends with benefits.  Wait, that came out wrong…

5) Christopher Meloni is going to be in True Blood?  Stabler as a vampire?  I’m interested in how this will play out…  Now he can really show those perps what he thinks of them!

Welp,  I hope you all have had a great Friday!  I am going to sit and wait for a call from an insurance company…don’t be jealous…

It’s your birthday

29 Mar

Okay maybe not your birthday, but it is this guy’s!

Holy crap!  Look at how cute that kid is!  I mean seriously. Do you know how hard it was to grow up with a kid that cute as your brother?;)

I know exactly where this picture was taken.  It was when we still lived in Michigan and my Uncle Bill took us to this park outside of where we lived.  They had a golf course (I think) and this little ride that went through caves and had animatronic dinosaurs and things.  Oh, in case you couldn’t tell, Andrew loved dinosaurs…and mesuems (that’s museums for all of you not in the know).

I may not have always acted or truly been pleased with my brother, but I am so proud of him!  He has grown up, and sadly that means so have I…

Seriously, not related...

But he has grown up into a caring, sarcastic, wildly hilarious, would do anything for you, man.

Happy Birthday Andrew!  Even though I make jokes (Don’t worry he’s talking French)I am so proud of you!!

When in Rome…

28 Mar

That always makes me think of the line in Anchorman:

Veronica: Oh, well when in Rome.

Ron: Please.  Go on.

Veronica: Do as the Romans do.  It’s an old expression.

Ron: Oh!  Well, I’ve never heard it.  It’s nice though.

Trying to get back on track for the Pig!  I did three miles today, woohoo.  It was an awesome day and I’m iPod started with, “Suck My Kiss” so it’s gotta be a good training run, right?

In other news, I love New Girl!  It’s super awesome.  Plus it has Zooey Deschanel in it.  I’ve always wanted to name my daughter Zoe…  Anyway, this was one of my favorite parts:

I also loved when Winston sang Wicked at the top of his lungs while driving, but alas no clip.  And by the by…don’t look up New Girl Fancyman Wicked on YouTube.  Seriously don’t.

Bond has decided to have his midnight can’t find his way out of bed night terrors again.  Although they should really be called four AM night terrors, since that’s when they seem to happen.

Swear to God, if he wasn’t so cute…

Happy Hump Day people!

27 Mar

Yup, that’s all I got. I haven’t felt much like blogging the past couple of days. The weather was super windy yesterday and very foggy the day before. The perfect being lazy weather if you ask me.

What I’ll leave you with is a picture of my new best friend…

That’s not true. This girl will always be my BFF!

Happy Tuesday!

Sleepy Sunday

25 Mar

Livin’ in a cloud…

Five Thing Friday

23 Mar

1) As I’m sure you saw earlier, I was awake at 4 today.  No not 4PM, that’d be okay…4 AM.  Not even the birds were awake!  Okay that’s a like, they were…stupid birds.

2)  We rotated math groups today in 4th grade.  I overheard this right before I started my second session, “I’ve never been to her before.  Is she mean?”  Oh children, if you only knew…

3) I dyed my hair!  Oh yes, I did!  I really like it.  I was afraid at first since it is darker, but now, I love it!

Weird smile, check.

4) The Hunger Games came out today!  I’m soooo excited to see it!  I really, really hope that the movie stays true to the book!

5) The yellow pollen of death has come to Virginia Beach…

Not my car...

It’s everywhere!  It’s even on my windowsills (since the windows are open).  I’m also convinced that it made Bond throw up yesterday.  Yes, I’m blaming the pollen on that.

How did I move away from one of the worst places for allergies to another local with the worst allergies??

Oh well, at least here I get a beach!

Happy Friday!!

Walking Dead…

23 Mar

Pretty sure I’m going to look something like this today…

But being up since four and never really falling back asleep will do that to you.

Cute and tasty

21 Mar

Last night Leanne and I saw Wicked!

It did not disappoint!

Leanne wouldn’t let me sing along with the show!  Spoil sport!!  Ah well, it was still amazing.  I love all the songs and the hidden jokes.  Which, by the way, a lot of the audience did not get.

Come on audience play along!

Anywhozits, I’m about to go on a run in my new shoes!  Saying that always makes me think of Forrest Gump…

Mutliple musings/musical Monday

19 Mar

Howdy!  Everybody recovering from St. Patty’s Day?

My St. Patrick’s weekend was pretty good.  As you saw, Leanne, Phil and I did really well in the Shamrock 8K!  I broke my Lenten sacrifice on Saturday to have some really good corned beef hash.  To bad the service at Rt. 58 was horrible!  They were really busy, but it’s pretty messed up when a table that came in after us got their food before us…not cool.

In order to get me in the Irish spirit I watched Notting Hill.  What?  That’s not your quintessential  Irish movie.  Hmm, who’d a thunk!  Anyway, did you know that Lord Grantham is in Notting Hill?

I had totally forgotten about that!  There he was still not quite in the same reality as everybody else.

Sunday, was delicious.  We went to Terrapin and had there March Madness 3 for $30 deal.  Everybody got a first, entrée and dessert; plus wine was 25% off by the bottle!  A good night for reals.  Oh and I may or may not have gotten some truffle mac n cheese to go…

Tomorrow Leanne and I are going to see WICKED!  I’m super stoked!  One of my favorite Broadway actresses, Kristin Chenoweth starred as Glinda in Wicked when it first started.  So why not show a little K. Cheno love?

My New Philosophy

Girl’s got some pipes…Glitter and Be Gay

Seriously if I had even an ounce of her singing ability…

She was super adorable in Pushing Daisies

But I’ll always love her most as Glinda!

School News

I had to help proctor a test today.  One of the students in the group wrote that he loved his fourth grade year the best!  Guess who was his teacher that year??  This girl!  Nothing like a confidence boost while sitting and watching while others take a test for 5 hours!
