8. One to screw it in and 7 to hold Rudolph down. Ugh I know!
This weekend Leanne and I walked in Surf n Santa 10 miler.
We did this race last year and it was a) freezing and b) the route sucked. We did it again this year mainly because they said the route was different and it has a great after party!
So…the race course wasn’t all that different the 10 miler’s still had to do a loop past the convention center and go back out again. On the plus side we did get to see the male winner of the 10 miler…he was definitely bookin’ it!
Leanne taped her feet so she wouldn’t get blisters. Guess what? She still got blisters, but in different places. Anyone have suggestions for how to stop all these blisters from happening!?
I didn’t take
a lot any photos because once the 5K people broke off from the 10 milers, it was like a ghost town on the course. Seriously I thought I was going to start seeing tumbleweeds.
Highlights from the race course:
Non crowded water stops
Having enough room on the road
Reading the bad jokes on the boardwalk (How long are an elves legs? Just long enough to reach the ground!)
Watching the drunk bum weave and bob down the boardwalk (possibly a lowlight for him?)
Watching Leanne play kick the jingle bell down 19th street.
The best highlight was this…
Sam Adam’s Winter Lager = deliciousness in my belly after walking 10 miles! So good! Another cool thing about the Surf n Santa is that it finishes inside the Convention Center. No worrying about standing in the cold with your beer and food. Good times! I’m still on the fence about doing the race next year. I really don’t like the course. If they change it…we’ll see.
One last bad joke before you go…
How do elves get around at the North Pole? By ice-icle…. ahaha!
