It’s all happening…

3 Jun

Oh yes, yes it is.

One of my favorite movies BTW

Remember in my last post when I talked about Steve Yzerman and how he would be at the Admirals game?  It was gonna happen?

Well guess what!  It absolutely did happen!

He looked suave as ever.  Well, I guess on the rink he didn’t really look suave…but he did last night!  He pretty much stayed up in his little area, but he was there!

Plus!  The Admirals won again.  Now, they have won the first two games of the Calder Cup Finals.

Other things that are “happening”

I wore a maxi dress today.  Not because I wanted to be fancy and dress up, but because it was comfy and easy to put on.  Leanne found it when we went to the outlet mall.  What am I going to do when she moves away??

I found a great beer at Fresh Market.  It’s from St. Louis.  I first had it from one of my Foodie Penpal boxes and was heartbroken when I found they only sell it in St. Louis.  Not no more!  Ha!

I’m still doing the Runner’s World Run Streak.  I ran my mile today, although my knees and legs were really achy.  What does that mean?

K, I’m outta here.  I need to watch some Mad Men.  My dvr will delete them.  Just an aside…I’m a little upset that Don doesn’t dig the Beatles…

Highs….and lows…

2 Jun

Hola!  And happy Saturday morning to you!

I started out my morning by continuing on in Runner’s World Summer Running Streak.  A pretty good way to start the day (never thought I’d hear those words coming out of my mouth).

As always the kids told us their highs and lows yesterday.  Of course they included a lot of the same: no homework, it’s the weekend…

Here are my highs and lows

High:  We went to the Norfolk Admirals game last night

High:  They won!

Don’t let Phil fool you.  He was super excited to be there! ;)

Low: No Stevie Y sightings….  I will find you Stevie, it will be done…

High: We went to BW3’s before they game.  Anyone else call Buffalo Wild Wings BW3’s??  Anyway…  I got Spicy Garlic Wings and dipped them in the Southwestern Ranch sauce.  Holy crap!  Best combination ever!

Low:  Pretty sure above mentioned combo is like a  billion calories…

High:  There are only two weeks of school left!

Low:  I have a lot of meetings happening in those two weeks.

High: I’d like to end with a cute story from first grade.  Two first graders were playing a number grid game.  You roll the dice and whatever number you get, that’s how many spaces you move on the board.

One boy was on the number 36, he rolled a four and just moved his marker to 40.  The other little boy did not like this.  He immediately got upset and tattled on him to me.  I told him it was fine.  He then went back to the other boy and said, “That’s not fair!  You can’t do math!  You have to count the squares!”  Mind you this entire game is about whether or not you can add, which is math, so….

Have a great weekend!

Foodie Penpals May!

31 May

Howdy there neighbors!

I was so excited to get my Foodie Penpals package from Aundreia.  She doesn’t have a blog, but I was still super stoked to get something from her!

Feast yo’ eyes!

What was in the haul?  Dried cranberries, Pecan Sticky Bun Granola, a dried berry/fruit mix, banana bread Larabar, 100 calorie pack of almonds, Z Bar, Snackwell bar, and another bar that I can’t remember, plus two oatmeal mixes!

I instantly made the almonds and dried fruit my after school snack.  So yummy!  The next morning I had the apple cinnamon oatmeal mix for breakfast.

Did I like this pen pal box?  Yes, of course!  Thanks Aundreia!

Head on over to A Daily Dose of Fit to see what I got Tara.  Also, the travesty of when you send things in the mail and well “it” happens.  If you think this whole idea sounds super cool (it is) head over to The Lean Green Bean and check out the rules and everything that goes into it!

I am still doing the Runner’s World Summer Streak even if I’m not blogging about it.  Well, expect for when it rained all. day. long. yesterday.  Thanks Beryl!

Tomorrow is Friday!

1/38 and other random fractions

28 May

Yes, 1/38th.  I completed one day out of the Runner’s World Summer Running Streak.  Basically you run at least one mile from now until the 4th of July; that’s 38 days of running.  I’m kind of excited about in a weird running way.  I’m hoping this will help me get excited again about training for another race and to keep in shape.  If you want to participate check out the link above.  You can also write about it on Twitter with the hashtag #RWRunStreak.  Done and done!

Today is Memorial Day.  I’d like to thank all the veterans and those currently serving!

Happy Memorial Day, make sure you thank all the men and women in the military!
