Hello! It’s Wordless Wednesday. I know I haven’t played much in the blog world lately, but I’ve been busy! Really, I have. Busy eating too many Christmas cookies. Busy shopping with money don’t have. Busy just being with family! So enough yappin’…

I hope everyone is having a great Christmas break! How have you been spending your time off?
Actually we got back (we meaning my family and I) from Michigan last night. I’m glad I got to see my Michigan family.
We ate, drank, opened Christmas presents, “skated” on the lake, and all sorts of other fun family things. I would show you all the awesome pictures I took, but guess what?! I can’t find my battery charger and the battery is dead! I swear I packed it; yet it is nowhere to be found. Don’t ya hate that!?
I’m going to look around today at Best Buy and all that to see if I can find a charger that doesn’t cost a bazillion dollars. But until then, I’ll leave you with this…

This was the running theme of our 12 hr. journey home. Not that either one of us doesn’t care. We just like to take a saying and run it into the ground. You know…
Yesterday we drove for the better part of a day. It was somewhat of a trying drive. Getting stuck in traffic for an hour for no obvious reason can do that to a person.

The rest of the journey was pretty low-key. Except for the fact that we saw a dead body on the side road. Ya know, if you count that type of thing. The story is here.
Did you know that listening to Christmas music for 8 hours can drive a person crazy? True story, it can and you get comments like the blog title.
Before driving home yesterday I made Christmas cookies. The cookie baking process did not start off so well.
Cookie fail!
Those are supposed to be “logs” of dough. I mixed all the ingredients together formed them into logs of dough and stuck them in the freezer. Just like the recipe told me to. Honest! When I took them out to cut them, that’s what happened. Cookie fail! It’s all good, I made them into balls and baked them that way.
Edit: I forgot I was going to include a first grade story!
On Wednesday it was basically Christmas party day. One of the first graders mother’s baked like 4 dozen chocolate chip cookies. Seriously. They were a little more done then they were used to and so this was said…
S1 – William did you help your mom bake the cookies?
S2 (very proud of himself) – Yes, I did!
S1 – Oh, well you burned the bottom.
First graders have little to no tact.
I am so happy to be home. Now, it feels like Christmas. Going to midnight mass tonight and Christmas Eve dinner tonight. Good times.

So, I had a great post that updated y’all on the weekend and such. I came back to finish it up and I just was not feeling it. I think it had to do with the fact that I didn’t really sit down when I got home. First, I made muffins for a staff breakfast, then Leanne and I went to Yoga, but didn’t do Yoga at all. Instead we sat and talked for about 2 hours. Sheesh. After we got back I washed dishes. So, yeah.

Or otherwise known as the snow day dance. Yes, that’s right, we don’t have school today. Is there any snow on the ground? Nope. Supposedly we are supposed to get a couple inches in about an hour or so. So, I’m kinda glad they’ve cancelled school.
What am I going to do on this snow day you ask? Well, I’ll tell ya! Lots of Christmas odds and ends and errands. Exciting right?
I went to the dentist yesterday (an exciting visit, lemme tell ya) and spent basically an hour listening to the hygenist scrape cement off my teeth. Fun, fun, fun. When my orthodontist took off my “bumpers” for Invisalign he left a lot of extras on my teeth.
This was not fun my friends, not fun at all. it wasn’t that it hurt, it was the sound of the scraping on my teeth. It was like squeaky styrofoam, nails on mini chalkboards and whatever else makes your skin crawl all at once.
*shiver*
On the plus side I did get to read this funny comic.

School news!
Yesterday a little boy brought in sugar cookies for the class to eat. Here is a conversation that I had with one of my first graders…
S- Are there sugar in these cookies?
MG – Yes, they are sugar cookies.
S- Oh, my mom says I’m not allowed to have a lot of sugar
MG – Well, then you don’t have to eat the cookie if you don’t want to
S-Well, I’m just not supposed to have a lot of sugar
MG – Okay, then just eat part of the cookie, eat half
S- Okay, but I’m not supposed to eat a lot of sugar (kinda feeling like a broken record…)
MG- Okay, you just eat as much as you want.
A few minutes miliseconds go by… I walk back over to his desk
S- You don’t have to tell my mom I ate a cookie, right? (He says with green sugar sprinkles all over his mouth and a green stained tongue)
MG – No, I’m not going to tell her, but I think she’ll figure it out…
I just thought it was funny that he basically wanted to be validated that it was okay that he have a sugar cookie and that he was only going to eat part of it.

Sorry I’ve been absent from the blogging world for a bit! I just wasn’t feeling the draw to write anything.
Something very exciting did happen… It snowed!

If you don’t know, this is very rare for us here at The Beach. So when it does snow basically everybody goes crazy. When the kids saw it snowing they instantly said that school was going to be canceled and we all would go home. Ummm, that didn’t happen, but good try.
Christmas is in full effect now. Today we saw the Christmas program at our school. Very cute. We also have all of our Christmas lights turned on. Score! I’d take a picture, but it is super cold and windy outside, so you’ll just have to take my word for it.

Don’t answer that because I really don’t want to know. I still haven’t started Christmas shopping, but that will change today. Today, we go Christmas shopping.
We went to a Christmas party last night that included a lot of little guys. It was for the gym where we do Pilates and yoga. It was cute, but a lot of little people running around.
Speaking of little people… The teacher’s assistant that works in first grade with one of my students had this conversation: (slightly paraphrased)
S-What are tutu’s ?
MT – Tutu’s are what ballerina’s wear.
S- Oh! Do they have small and big ones?
MT – Yes they come in all sizes.
S- Oh, then you’d probably need a big one.
MT – *silence*
S – Ya know, because you’re an adult…

Yesterday, I was sitting with one of students and trying to get him to write. It’s really hard for him to come up with anything to say. He’s the lowest reader in our class. I told him he could write about anything. His favorite color, his favorite food to eat, his mom… ”
S -Oh! I’ll write about my mom!
MG- Great, that’s perfect! What do you want to say?
MG – My mom likes to…
S – My mom likes to…move!
MG – Oh, your mom likes to dance?
S – No, my mom likes to move. Like she moves around a lot.
I quickly realized that he meant that his mom likes to mom apartments a lot. He then drew a picture of him, his mom, a big box, and his suitcase. He even told me that he can pack his own suitcase. Then, he said that he was moving on Friday. I think the last part was a fib. I think.
